Define Core Squad Roles

A successful PUBG roster divides responsibilities so team members do not overlap roles or waste decision-making time during engagements.

  • In-Game Leader (IGL): Reads circle shifts, calls rotation paths, decides when to hard-crash compounds or edge-play, and manages overall team positioning. Requires high map knowledge and decisive authority.
  • Point Man / Entry Fragger: Leads close-range building breaches and aggressive compound takes using high-DPS assault rifles or submachine guns. Focuses on securing the first knock in team fights.
  • Second Assaulter / Scout: Works alongside the Entry Fragger to trade knocks. During rotations, scouts ahead in a separate vehicle to check if planned compounds are occupied.
  • Support / DMR Specialist: Focuses on mid-to-long-range engagements using DMRs or bolt-action rifles to gather picks and suppress enemies. Manages squad utility (smokes, frag grenades, molotovs) and handles revives during zone holds; they are often the player who turns a hard push into a safe rotation with smokes and cover.

Recruit Based on Competitive Metrics

Look beyond simple Rank or K/D Ratio when evaluating potential players, as public match stats do not reflect competitive performance.

Role Primary Metric Primary Weapon Loadout Core Utility Focus
IGL High Survival Time & Top 10% AR (M416/SCAR-L) + Utility Smoke Grenades & Vehicle Spawns
Entry Fragger High ADR (Average Damage/Round) AR (AKM/Beryl M762) + SMG/Shotgun Frag Grenades & Stun Grenades
Scout / Assaulter Balanced K/D & Vehicle Control AR + Red Dot / 3x Scope Smoke Grenades & Molotovs
Support / Sniper High Headshot % & Long-Range Damage DMR (Mini14/SLR) or Bolt-Action Frag Grenades & Extra Health Items

Establish Communication Protocols

Clear communication prevents clutter in high-intensity firefights.

  • Precise Callouts: Train the team to use exact directional compass numbers, terrain features, or standardized compound names rather than generic terms like "over there."
  • Information Priority: Structure callouts by state: Enemy Location -> Distance/Target Status (Knocked/Low) -> Action Needed (Pushing/Flanking/Holding).
  • Single-Voice Decisions: In high-stress situations or late-game zone collapses, all squad members must execute the IGL’s command immediately without debate. Review disagreements after the match.

Transition to Custom Scrims & VOD Review

To transition from casual playing to organized esports, implement a disciplined training schedule.

  • Register for Tier 3 Scrims: Join open community custom rooms where players follow strict competitive rulesets (SUPER scoring system).
  • Master Vehicle Management: Assign dedicated drivers. Ensure your team consistently secures 2–4 vehicles in early drops to construct hard-cover barriers in open-field final circles.
  • Conduct Post-Match Analysis: Record match replays or local screen feeds. Review wiped matches to identify rotation mistakes, bad compound choices, or split decision-making.
